Tips for Better Chat Retention and Reviving Old Chats

chatRevival

When maintaining a conversation or chat, it is important to respond quickly to incoming messages. This way, you show your chat partner that you are interested in the conversation and increase the likelihood of a further and longer conversation. It is therefore advisable to always keep an eye on unanswered and unread messages in your messenger and answer them as quickly as possible.

Additionally, a friendly and respectful tone is of great importance. Rude or disparaging behavior can end the conversation quickly. In contrast to a face-to-face conversation, you cannot use body language or facial expressions in a chat, so you should always communicate in a friendly and respectful manner, even if you might find the customer unlikable or if you disagree.

The decisive technique for keeping a chat alive and interesting is to avoid "closed" answers as much as possible and rather try to write your own answer with a further "open-ended question." For example: if a customer asks if you like eating strawberries, don't just answer with "Yes or No." Supplement your answer with a bit more context, for example what you like just as much or more, and end your answer with the question of what the customer likes, or transition to another topic and ask questions about it. This gives him the opportunity to answer and leads to a dynamic conversation. It also shows interest and openness to new topics and ideas. Or if you are talking about the weekend, for example, you could ask: "What are your plans for the weekend?" or "Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend?" This way, not only is a simple answer expected, but a conversation topic is also opened up. Be creative in formulating your questions, but be careful not to ask too many questions at once, as this often leads to fewer answers.

Another possibility is to respond to your customer's emotions. If someone has reported a stressful day, for example, you can ask: "How do you deal with stress?" or simply offer to help: "Do you perhaps need support?" There are many ways to make a chat more interesting through questions – be creative! But be careful not to ask inappropriate questions or penetrate personal areas without your counterpart's wish. For questions or information that the customer might already reveal, you can look at his profile.

Another tip for successful chats: to build a relationship, you should be interested in your chat partner. Ask questions about his interests, hobbies, or plans for the future. This shows him appreciation and quickly builds a bond.

It is important that you always keep your customer in view and respond to his needs. Perhaps he is interested in a specific topic or wants to learn more about a special fantasy. Use this opportunity to offer him your expertise and inspire him. A free file attachment can be a good entry point to pique the customer's interest. Here you can give him a small insight and make him curious. If he then wants more pictures/videos from you, the sale of a premium file attachment is a good option. However, make sure that you do not become too intrusive or put the customer under pressure to buy something from you. It is about creating a positive experience for both sides and bringing the customer's imagination to life.

It is also important that you always keep your customer in view and respond to his needs. Use notes in the messenger to collect information about your customers. This way, you can always respond to him individually and show that you know his interests and preferences. Especially when a chat was a long time ago, this gives you the advantage of writing to the customer with something private like his name or place of residence. As a result, the customer will feel valued and be more likely to answer than if you only send a pre-made standard message.

Be friendly and helpful, even if the customer becomes impatient or even unfriendly. At the end of the day, it's about binding the customer to you so that he becomes your regular customer. Don't forget, every message from the user is hard cash for you.

We hope that we could inspire you a bit with these ideas and look forward to your creative implementations. If you have any further questions or need support, we are happy to help.
